Schnuggling with My Buddy

Ethan was watching his "new Wilbur" with me the other day. It was nearly time for his nappy. He kept jerking and bouncing up and down to keep himself awake until he couldn't anymore.

I want a white tux!!

A conversation I had a while ago still makes me laugh. Towards the end of prom season, our vendors ran out of white tuxes in smaller sizes (36-38 men's suit jackets). So my job was to convince these prom goers that they really wanted a black tux. This is not the easiest thing to do when most of these high school kids have never been told NO! Well, this kid is a size 36 regular and wants our $50 Bux for your Tux special, and he wants it in white, and he comes in two days before his prom! So, I do my best to convince him that he does not want a white tux. That didn't work. So hoping that he actually could wear a larger size than what I originally thought, I had him try on another jacket. No good. So I tell him, I'm sorry but we are not going to be able to get you a white tux this time. "But I want a white tux!" I'm sorry but we don't have any white tuxes in your size. "But I want a white tux!" There are no more white tuxes available in your size. "But I want a white tux!" This conversation went on for about five minutes, before I finally told him "you can't have a white tux, so why don't we find a black tux that you like. His response: "but I want a white tux." We ended up finding a tux he liked, but it wasn't a white tux.

Kindermusik

I just finished the requirements for becoming a Licensed Kindermusik Teacher!! It was a lot of work, but I am so excited about starting to teach in the near future. Working with children and being surrounded by music are two incredibly important things to me, so Kindermusik is a logical choice for me. I love the idea of introducing infants and children to musical activities that help them develop coordination, rhythm and social skills that will benefit them now and in the future.

I Adore My New Job!

For the first time in my life, I adore going to work. That fact astounds me. I work for a company called Wade's Clothing and Tux Specialists. It is an upscale retail clothing store and tux rental shop. I'm actually busy the majority of the time that I am at work and that makes me happy! The benefits and pay is great and my schedule works well for me. The only thing that I am not thrilled about is that I work on Saturdays, but I get Wednesdays and Sundays off so there is really not much to be unhappy with. I enjoy the people that I work with and it's kind of fun talking people into buying things that look great on them.
Since I only have internet access when I go to the library, this blog will only be update maybe once every week or so. Not that anyone ever checks it. Ta-ta for now.

A New Job

About 6 months ago, I was approached by one of my customers about a part-time job for a high-end retail store. Because it was part time, I turned down the offer. On Monday of last week, this same person called me and asked if I knew anyone "just like me" who would like a full-time job with benefits. I haven't been looking for a job, because I enjoy what I do for the most part. It's stressful and busy, but not without it's benefits. And what job isn't that way at times? Anyway after discussing the job with the owner of the company and having a spur of the moment interview (20 minutes to prepare!!), I accepted the job. I'm very excited about working for this company. They have been established in our town since 1974 and it's great pay. I get bonuses every January and July 1. I get commission on the sales that I make, but still have a great starting salary. They are training me for a position as Assistant Manager of the store. That in itself will be a challenge, but I think that when the time comes, I will be ready for it. (I hope, anyway) Anyhoo, I will be working about 52 hours a week until I am ready to be working on my own completely. I'm very excited about this new opportunity.
